Hey everyone,
Today we’re making a change to Spaces that is a direct result of the feedback you gave us here on the Windows Live team blog, on the Space Craft blog, and via the feedback form. We heard that earlier changes we’d made to the Spaces header actually caused you confusion and made it more difficult to navigate to other Windows Live services after viewing someone’s personal space.
As a result, we’re beginning to update Spaces today to add the standard Windows Live navigation links across the top, so you have a consistent way to navigate to and from all the Windows Live services.
Here’s the old header in Spaces:

If you don’t see the new header yet, wait a day or so – we’ve got a lot of users to roll this out to, and it generally takes a little while to get updates out to everyone.
We hope that this change helps make it easier to stay in touch with your friends and family on Spaces and throughout Windows Live. So go ahead, check out your space now!

Oh, okay. Is that why I\’m now seeing the "Find" bit under the toolbar? I\’ll keep an eye out. I\’m on here daily. (It\’s a laugh a minute at the moment.) Thank you all for giving us this Spaces thing. I\’m loving it.

Your homemade theme on this space still doesn\’t quite work properly. At high resolutions, the graphic doesn\’t fill the width of the window. Drop-down menus are transparent, and it makes the text appear to overlap. But I still love the sky header and desperately want to use it on my own space.

I have been informed by a party pooper that this change will not make it easier to get from space to space, as I had thought. I\’m not quite as overjoyed as I was iniially. Keep the changes coming, but why not expand the list instead of having Spaces in the More area?I think there is enough space to expand Spaces and a few more major Windows Live Services from being hidden in the More area, that would be less clicking & less confusing for those that do not know that Spaces is hidden in the More area.Keep up the good work,-John
Well that is a step in the right direction, but as John below said why not expand the More so some are on that header..
I\’d like to see Live Spaces support the user specified Windows Live theme that runs across all the Live assets. And secondly, why do we need this menu header at all if the user is running Windows Toolbar? There seems to be alot of redundancy..I\’ve got 3 Search Boxes…the one built into the browser, Live Toolbar and also in the web page header. Perhaps someone from the Live Toolbar team can blog about thinking behind this. Thanks.
Sorry to be Captain Nitpicker here, but I just got the new header on my space, and it\’s off center. Not by much, but it doesn\’t quite match up with the other WL pages. Is there a simple change that would fix that? Thanks again for your efforts.@ John – I second your first point, but disagree with your second (if that makes sense). If anything the toolbar is the feature that creates the redundancy. As hard as it may be to accept, not everyone installs the WL Toolbar. The links within the pages themselves are essential.Long term, I think it would be a nice touch to let each user customize which link appears in what spot, so that if I want Spaces to be the second item I see in the header, well so be it. Anything beyond the first 4 links would fall under More. If you think that\’s a swell idea, too, then I\’d encourage you to submit feedback via http://feedback.live.com. Thanks!

@John: Yeah, I have the toolbar links as well, but they don\’t quite match the actual Live Page links but, once I get on one of my pages, I can go anywhere from there. It\’s no real hassle. Looks nice, though. Tidier.
@Greg, you have a point and I don\’t totally disagree. Another way they go is allow users to customize the WL Toolbar down to the Sync, Customization and Sign In icons on the far right and allow you to move this into the Favorites Toolbar. This would minimize duplication, maximize web page view with one less *full* toolbar and enable favorites syncing. Unfortunately, WL Toolbar can be customized only so much.

can anyone help me – my hotmail is not loading properly once I sign in and this is causing me to not be able to read my email. The whole screen format is virtually in text, rather than showing the usual menu icons etc. I have looked for almost 2 days to try and find out what is wrong or how I fix it but I can\’t. any help would be appreciated – Sean Smith.

Going through pages I would like to see a button spaced that will take a person back to top of the page. IE midway, return to top or 2/3 return to top. etc return buttons john
@ John – You betcha. It\’d be swell to have the WL toolbar feel a little less like a toolbar and more like an extension of the browser. Nowadays, I keep it hidden most of the time, unless I need to use a specific feature.

Unrelated – I log in and My Inbox page opens but I cant access my e-mails as there is an error, which reads, error on page – details- hm is undefined, type mismatch. Kindly let me know how to rectify it

Since you did away with the bevelled header, I really can\’t see the point of having a distinct and different coloured header. Why not merge it into the main theme as it is on the Profile page?. Incidently, I use the Windows Live theme on my Space and the only option for the header with that is dark blue, yet on this page it matches the main theme. How can I get that?

Captain Nitpicker here again. In addition to being off-center, the Windows Live and user tile links in the WL Spaces header are positioned at the outside edges of the page. Windows Live\’s other wave 3 pages place these links closer to the other links in the header. Why go to the trouble of updating the header and only take it 75% of the way? But the links are nice. Thanks!@ John – that "sky" theme is only for WL teams to use. One of \’em told me it was under a theme category called "Special," which we mere mortals don\’t have. Per my earlier comments, it\’s kind of homemade when you look closely, because the drop-down lists on this space are transparent and the header graphic doesn\’t stretch properly on high-res displays.
I\’m special, Greg. I\’m not a \’mere mortal\’. So can I have it! All me updates are in, everywhere now. Love \’em. Much easier navigation. (Blimey, I sound like a pilot. Not though!)

@Greg- Thanks for that Cap\’n, I see what you mean about the drop-down menus but I still think it looks better than a dark blue band across the top of the page. I\’m sure the design team could fix those points, if they ever let us mere mortals have the option.
I must be among the latter half of the Spaces devotees over whom the new header will be rolled out.I will wait to see if there is new (or better yet, regained) functionality which would allow me to search through existing Spaces by topic or keyword. As it stands now, I can only search by profile and that means I can only look to see if someone I have in a Contacts file has a Spaces site. Most of my contacts do not. Thus, as a Internet social networking system Live.com does not serve my desire to meet new people at all well.Tom C
Alot easier to get around now. Maybe you can look into putting spaces as an option when one clicks on their profile picture.

I agree Spaces should be an option at the top line and not the drop down.Customization doesn\’t appear to be working correctly, when I try to same I keep getting the:Sorry, Spaces is temporarily unavailable at this time. Please try your request again, or if the problem continues to persist, please consult Help for additional troubleshooting tips. Also, the Help message at the end of the entry asking me for my comments does not appear to be functional.

I need to track my blog using Google Analytics or AdCenter (or any Microsoft service), although there appears to be a tool in the Gadgets, it is just a title without code. The current version of tracking on the Spaces is limited.

I see, and this is a clever changes. We can turn to any page which we want to read easier. But when you click More or MSN you will find the words is not clear, I think it should be improved.

Hello every one… I am not likeing MSN plus at all but only for one reasn… I downloaded it correctly and everything… But after about 10 secconds on me talking to contacts a message pops up saying "Windows Live Communications Platform has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. Then says I can Cloe the program or check. When I lick "Close Program" It signs me out of MSN" When I click " Check for online help" It opens a blank page and sings me off! I am very mad at this. Can anyone please help?
I went to add a new photo to an existing blog entry today. I clicked on the blog title, clicked on `edit` like I have normally done in the past, but the bar that has the font style, font size, bold, italic, underline, center, font color and most importantly , the HTML tab which I need for post my shot is not there. It was there a few days ago when I posted a picture, but not today. What happened

Hi.I´m new to spaces and think it has some nice features. But something that I don’t like is that when one clicks on the link “Photos” or “Profile” one comes to a totally different pagelayout then if you click on “blog” or “guest book”. The navigation in the top – “Profile” “Spaces” “Photo” “Blog” etc. also disappear. One therefore has to look for links to get back to Spaces or click “Back” in ones browswer…. Why not make “Photos” and “Profile” open up in a same layout as if you click on “Blog” or “Guestbook”?This would make Spaces look much nicer than it is now!I know that Spaces is a part of Live, but it makes it all very confusing when you mix it al up like that. If I could remove the links “Photo” and “Profile” in the top and get a module whit this instead – that don’t link to the Live-part it could be a solution.Thanks for listening!Kapten Pinta / Sweden
i think the spaces\’s interface should be more clean and modern like the new hotmail or windows vista. the current is very square.
This is annoying, to say the least. Fine, you put in a search box. Whatever. Now, when I hit customize so I can update my look, it goes straight to modules. Every. Stinking. Time. If I click Options it goes straight to an options page instead of a drop down menu. Is this going to be fixed? If there is a drop down arrow present, shouldn\’t the menu be accessible?
