Like many of you, I do a ton of different things on the web across a variety of sites and services. From sharing real-time updates on Twitter to writing a review of my favorite new Seattle restaurant on Yelp, my online activities are as varied as my interests. I have one group of friends on Facebook, another group on Windows Live and yet another that I communicate with on LinkedIn. While I love the all the ways there are to communicate, it can be daunting to manage all of my different online activities and contact lists, and I would love a way to make my online life just a little simpler.
20 new web activities to add
That’s why I am excited to announce that within a week, Windows Live will add more ways for you to share your online life with the people you care about. Over the next few days we will add 20 new feed partners to Windows Live. This means that you’ll be able to add your web activities from more than 30 websites to your Windows Live profile, and your activities on those sites will then appear on Windows Live. The new partners include Facebook, Digg, Last.fm, and SmugMug and other partners. By adding your activities from these sites, it’s easier than ever to share your activities from across the Web on Windows Live.
Now when I update my status or share pictures on sites like Facebook, Fotolog, metroFLOG, Photobucket, or SmugMug, I can choose to have that activity automatically added to “What’s new with Rob” on my profile, and this is reflected throughout Windows Live.
Similarly, when I use Digg, Facebook, or StumbleUpon to recommend an article or website, I can choose to have it show up automatically in “What’s new with Rob,” so people in my network can see it right away.
You’ll be able to add all of the new web activities (plus the dozen current ones) directly from the Web activities link on your profile.
Three new ways to add people to your network
To make it easier to keep track of all your contacts in one place, we are also announcing three new contact partners that allow you to share the contacts you have on different social networking sites. Soon, MySpace, Hi5, and Tagged will join Facebook and LinkedIn as sites that let you invite your friends to Windows Live and vice versa. Rather than starting from scratch and building up an entirely new contact list, now you can safely and securely invite your contacts directly to Windows Live from one of these five social networks.
Here is a quick 60-second video of how contact importing works courtesy of my colleague, Angus Logan:
All of these updates and more will go live in the next week. In the meantime, Windows Live general manager Brian Hall provides a great overview of what this means for Windows Live customers. For another overview, check out this longer video from Angus.
Stay tuned here on the Windows Live team blog (or subscribe via RSS) for more information about these and other updates over the next week or so. On behalf of all of the folks who build Windows Live, thanks for trying it out. We hope you like the latest updates!

Great work, Windows Live! Thanks for keeping the users connected 😛 and YES, we do enjoy the latest updates! 🙂
nice..!! now I can import my contacts from fb xD
@Brien – If you invite someone who doesn\’t yet have a Windows Live ID, yes, they will be walked through the steps to quickly create a new ID.@Adnan Rafid – importing contacts from Facebook is already available today. Just go to http://home.live.com and click Add people. You\’ll see an option to pull in all of your contacts from Facebook and other sites.
why did my calendar quit showing up on "my msn" home page?
Great news! Thanks! I can\’t wait.
Can\’t wait to see the out come of it all:)
It\’s gonna rock! This is the place to be, I\’m lovin it:) Thanx
I\’m totally Live so I really don\’t care much about this… though it would be interesting to know "what\’s new with" my contacts outside Live, Through Live 😉
@ Brien – Yes, non-WL users that you invite from other networks will need to create WL accounts in order to join your network.@ WL Team – I can\’t wait to see WL replace FriendFeed and do it one better. Here\’s hoping!
Fist time logging into hotmail for a while – and all of my old email is gone…. anybody know how I can get it back?
It\’s true those Facebook, Bolg and Youtube are the Witchcraft of the day…
cool …thanks for the info
I\’ve been waiting for these since Web Activities was first introduced. Thanks to the Developer Team.
Fantastic! I was worried that it would take until Wave 4 for more activities to show up. Now it seems like all my networking sites are included. Windows Live should also add MSN Video as an activity – Like if you upload a video, or add a favorite, or comment, it will show up. Since they are both made by the same company, it\’d make sense to include this, right? (MSN Video needs a major update too!)
wow… wat a amazing! ! so thx 4 microsoft! That\’s great news for the millions of Windows Live users. You guys always seem to have a way of exciting us with news that we will with no doubt benefit from. Thanks for all your efforts!
I still haven\’t try it but the comments here look pretty horrifying. I hope I don\’t get to take back what I said before.
Thats really good
Myspace too? Excellent work.
Thumbs up to Sam – he\’s "totally Live"! Me too. Couldn\’t live without it now.
Just "WOW"
Great news, guys!!Keep up the good work!(have you realized the songs uploaded on Skydrive run just one day? Please check it out!)Have a nice day=)
hi, nice development!!!!!!
This is great work guys …….. you guys are going ahead with great spirits…. I wish this goes on…… I know you guys listen to users 🙂
I am the greatest fan of MSN and its wonderful products. I enjoy using them a lot. Right now I own MS Windows vista 64 bit and I really enjoy the cool features and I am looking forward to Windows 7 so that I can update that with my system. Hats off to you guys for always finding cool new stuff.I have one question- how to import pictures in one hotmail account into another hotmail account and second question is when you open the windows office live and after finishing the work, there is no icon to go back to my hotmail home account. Grateful if this issue could be sorted out. Thanks and best wishesethu madhavanproud windows user
I haven\’t try it jet but I\’m sure that will be great.Exellent work guys!!! Like always.
Why not give us some of the old features back, that were removed with the last "improvements" ,things like being able to organise the photo albums into the order we want them to be rather than the order they were uploaded in. Now that would be classed as an improvement —- Apart from hoping for that, I look forward to seeing what you have dreamed up for us next
Am with you Bran of Cornwall…i to miss that feature sooo much, it is annoying when uploaded photos are put in livespace photo order rather than order i uploaded them !Cannot wait till next week to give this new feature a whirl, looks good.
Why do premium members now have a green Windows Live banner slapped on the right hand side of Skydrive and Photos. Are you intentionally trying to sabotage the experience for us. It serves no purpose that I can think of. I mean, you literally had to think about it to do it. What could possibly be your motivation other than to further alienate premium members. Please explain? P.S. Pretty disgusted with MSN being crammed down out throats as well.
Last week a security update started rejecting email In receive with a large number of receipients I suppose it thinks it is spam, how can we get around this so I can receive my email from this group ?
@Bran of Cornwall & SweetSunnySide – We DID give you back the ability to re-arrange your photos! See our April 14 blog post about it here: http://windowslivewire.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2F7EB29B42641D59!38690.entry
I was beginning to like windows live on my desktop until I encountered problems. First, windows live mail can send mail, but it will not receive new mail, even when a sync is performed. I KNOW I have mail as I went into my browser and saw new messages on my inbox icon. The problem remains, how do I get the live mail on my desktop to receive new mail ???Second, I have windows live messenger 2009. It\’s fine and runs well except that when I open my browser and sign into hotmail, it always, ALWAYS pops up in my icon tray and prompts me to sign into it. I have uncehcked the box that says to sign me in to it when I sign in on the web(it does this when I sign into MSN related pages too) and yet it STILL does it. I\’m about 2 clicks away from un-installing the whole mess. Is there anyway I can get this product to function to MY desires instead of just \’looking cool\’ on my desktop ???
We appreciate the heads up blogpost Rob. Thank you for keeping us informed as to upcoming changes.
I just joined windows live. Looks cool. How do I remove albums from the photos section, or even rename them for that matter? It is not obvious as a new user.
To Sky Drive Team,Great, Thanks Everybody For Your EffortWe Need More Themes. We Need An Option Allow Us To Change Folders Icon In Sky Drive. We Need Option "Views" Like Windows Vista Allow Us To Change The Appearance Of Icons In Folders Such As " Tiles, Details, List, Small Icons, Medium Icons, Large Icons, Extra Large Icons".And We Want An Application Allow Us To See Sky Drive As Normal Drive In "My Computer".And If Possible, We Need An Amazing Recycle Bin, It\’s Very Important To Us, Verrrry Important. Thanks Teamwork.Taha 🙂
when using instant messenger I type in a message but their is no send button and I can not send the message why is this
Thanks heaps for the new and innovative ways to keep connected. Life can be a little disjointed but with Windows Live development it is really becoming \’CHILDS PLAY\’. Thankyou. Mwah !
How come xbox live was not add just like popflyhttp://www.popfly.com/http://www.xbox.com/
Good. I like it…
I´d like to import my blogger entries to windows live blog…thanks
Guys, the effort is remarkable, but if I have to keep my pandora, twitter (and probably facebook too) public to see them on WL that\’s pretty silly. What about privacy?good job, but a true sync feature (say contact, calendat with blackberry actually using live cotnacts unlike myphone) would be more useful than all this social networking stuff (that is indeed limited)
Thanks for Update
ya ty that means thanks
I just received notice that my account may be deleted for lack of use. This is ridiculous since I
Oh dear! Someone else who\’s having trouble blogging? (Reyna Orozco). Anyone know what\’s happened to the server? My Live Writer won\’t publish and I can\’t get it to grab from the online editor, either. I had a really special one to do yesterday and nothing\’s working.
@Jen – I\’ve sent an inquiry to the team about this and will let you know what I hear back. @Reyna Orozco – We actually blogged once before about moving entries from one blog to another. It was quite a while back, an oldie but a goodie. Read it here: http://windowslivewire.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2F7EB29B42641D59!701.entry @Joseph, Taha, and others – Thanks for the great suggestions. We\’ll keep those in mind!- Antonia
welldone Rob
Mate how my messege lines sortet to only only 1/3 who was before;
In Malaysia, we have Cyberjaya…
Please add YouTube, MySpace, iGoogle, and Club Nintendo to web activities.
Great to see Windows Live being updated more frequently.
@Obed They WON\’T be adding iGoogle. Besides, Windows Live Personalized Experience isn\’t a social tool and its the same as iGoogle. Result: iGoogle isn\’t a social tool.
Oh cheers, Antonia. It\’s still not working this morning.

hey im new user. whats going on!..
they need to add zune and xbox card………….
Great!
@Antonia: Ran another test on the blog via Live Writer. Got the test through. Just have to do one with my pictures to know whether everything\’s all right with it, but hey – I got a small one in! Hope you\’re all well.
I am a "Hotmail Plus" customer. But as of this last release I am finding the you have decided to become aggressively intrusive with MSN as well as large banner ads in Skydive and Photos. Will MS be offering a premium account in the future without the the intrusion. As it stands now Google\’s offerings are less intrusive, free, fewer bugs and outages and 100X more integrated with other internet services with their APIs.
@JEWLS Try windowslivehelp.com if you\’re needing help.
Looking forward. Preferably it comes earlier then later in the the week
Is there any guidance on when Windows Live and Windows Mobile, especially calendaring, will offer synchronization without having to use Outlook on a PC?These little social networking couplings are gee-whiz but offer me little of value…
hehe…
me too!!! can\’t wait the new update!
@Jorge- You how many times google online services at outage in this year only.! Search the web you knw better.! Which one is better.!!
when were you clowns planning to provide some services for people older than 16?
It would be nice to be able to create a custom URL for my Window\’s live profile. Is this available now? 1) If so, how do I pick my URL? and 2) If not, why not?
how do u connect to video chat so i can talk to my family in mexico
I am unable to add my Photobucket account to Windows Live web activities. The message would be appropriate if the Photobucket name I am entering was incorrect, but it is not incorrect. The web page for contacting Windows Live support appears to require a plugin to use in Firefox, an an unknown plugin. The CAPTCHA needed to send the email to customer service took me 8 unsuccessful tries to read the letters, one unsuccessful attempt at an audio CAPTCHA, and then finally on the 9th try I managed to read and type the CAPTCHA letters correctly. So far I\’m not real impressed.
What happened to the font on my space? It hard to focus, it looks blurry and sometimes a bit transparent and distorted…Especially when bold. It\’s looks awful! Will you guys fix that soon?
I\’m quiet satisfied with cyberworld…
I have tried to download windows7rc without luck. I try to and the download manager say," file is empty." It doesn\’t matter what I do, no luck. I have about 20 product key\’s without the product. I would appreciate any help that you might give.
I find the Seek junk on my screen really intrusive, and I can\’t get rid of it
